The Biggest Loser: Electors Turn Against Hillary

More Electoral College members attempted to vote for someone other than Hillary Clinton than those who defected from Donald Trump. Hillary Lost the Electoral College Vote 18 years to the day after the U.S. House of Representatives impeached President Bill Clinton on two charges of perjury and one of obstruction of justice.

Democrats had lobbied for weeks in a futile attempt to get members of the Electoral College to vote for Clinton instead of Trump and hand the presidency over to their preferred candidate. As I wrote late last month, it’s interesting to watch how the Democratic Party went from condemning Trump for suggesting he’d only accept the election results if he won to throwing out multiple excuses as to how the election was stolen from Clinton.

Trump and his running mate Mike Pence won 304 electoral votes, surpassing the needed 270 to beat Clinton. Of the seven electors that did not vote for Trump or Clinton, five were originally slated for Hillary. An additional 3 attempted to defect from Clinton. Only 2 defected from Trump.

In Washington State, four defected, two to former Secretary of State Colin Powell and two voting for Faith Spotted Eagle. Faith Spotted Eagle is an elder and spiritual leader of the Ihanktonwan Dakota Oyante in South Dakota, who has been the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Bill Clinton got choked up after he cast his electoral vote for Hillary Clinton on Monday. The former president, who is an elector for New York, reiterated his claim that FBI Director James Comey lost the election for his wife.
