Attorney General Jeff Sessions Announces Action AGAINST Sanctuary Cities
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday urged an end to sanctuary cities, saying municipalities that allow such policies could lose out on federal funding.
Sanctuary cities, a general term used to describe local governments that are more lenient in how they comply with federal immigration laws, have become a hotly debated topic in local and state elections. President Donald Trump campaigned against them, as well.
Sessions said sanctuary cities will lose Department of Justice grants for failing to comply with immigration laws.
“Such policies cannot continue,” Sessions said at the daily press briefing from the White House. “They make our nation’s cities less safe.”
